Plouay, from the Breton plou (parish) with the name of an evangelising saint.
Made famous by its cycling Grand Prix, Plouay hosted the world championships in 2000.
Plouay is above all a lively and dynamic town with its many shops and services and a considerable network of associations.
With three castles and nine chapels, Plouay has a rich architectural heritage. Nestled in the valley of the Scorff, this is a hospitable commune offering great walking paths and landscaped hiking trails. Manehouarn park offers quality facilities to families: children's playground (aged 2 to 12), multisports field, skate park and close by a BMX track (free entrance to all facilities). Orienteering trails, picnic tables and a fishing lake are also available in the wonderful fifty-hectare park.
